Easy English is designed for people who have lower literacy. This may be because of disability, educational gaps or coming from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background.

Easy English simplifies written text into an easier, more straightforward form and uses icons and images to help explain the concepts.

Most Easy English documents are a translation of a more complicated “original” document. The Easy English is designed to be read with the original document and a support person, though we intend for our Easy English to be able to be read on its own.

Easy English can also be used in a similar way to a social story.
