At Cara, we find possible
Cara is a leading South Australian disability service provider. We have more than 1,000 staff, who we call our Possible People, who work alongside our customers, children and adults with disability, across South Australia.
Cara is committed to working alongside our customers to grow as individuals and live fulfilling everyday lives. Our promise is ‘we find possible’. We find possible in our values, in our commitment to being person-centred and in our drive and passion for working alongside the children and adults we support.
We will celebrate our 25th anniversary in May 2020 – Cara began independent operations in May 1995. Cara’s history dates back even further – we were part of the Spastic Centres of South Australia, which was formed in the 1950s.
Cara is all over South Australia, at a location that suits you
We operate all over South Australia including in metropolitan Adelaide, Mount Barker, Murray Bridge, Mount Gambier, Kadina, Port Augusta, Port Pirie and Port Lincoln, as well as supporting people with disability in surrounding areas.
We provide support to empower people for greater independence.
People living with disability grow as individuals and live a life rich with opportunities.
At Cara, all of our work is guided by our four core values:
Our memberships and affiliations
We are proud of our connections, memberships and affiliations across the disability sector.
Cara is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We are here to assist you on your NDIS journey.
We’ll work with you to identify your goals and what's important to you. These are your choices and Cara will support what you want to do with your life.
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission is the national regulator of charities in Australia. Cara is a registered charity and a trusted organisation, which is why we display the Registered Charity Tick.
Cara is a member of National Disability Services (NDS), Australia's peak body for non-government disability service organisations, representing over 1000 non-government service providers. Collectively, NDS members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability.
Our Chief Executive, Liz Cohen, also sits on the NDS SA State Committee.
Cara is a member of Ability First Australia, a strategic alliance of leading disability service providers with member organisations in all states and territories.
Ability First Australia works to ensure that every Australian living with disabilities, and their families, has access to programs that maximise their potential by creating opportunities for them to make their own choices.
