Short-Term Accommodation (STA) gives you the chance to recharge and experience something new. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a break from everyday routines while enjoying a safe, supportive environment. During your stay, you can learn new skills, build confidence, and expand your social circle through engaging activities and community connections.
Cara offers STA at a range of welcoming locations across South Australia, including Blakiston (Farm Stay), Greenacres, Morphettville, Port Augusta, and Port Lincoln. Each location provides unique experiences designed to help you relax, connect, and discover new opportunities.
Whether you’re looking for a short getaway, a change of scenery, or time to focus on personal goals, STA offers flexibility and choice. Our experienced team ensures your comfort and wellbeing, so you can relax knowing you’re in trusted hands.

Short Term Accommodation is a disability respite service for you to live out of a home for a short period and includes personal care, accommodation, food and activities.
STA is staffed by our professional, caring and passionate support workers who are trained to support people with disability, including those with high health needs. They will learn about you and what you like and don’t like, so that you can enjoy your stay with Cara as much as possible.
Staying in STA provides an opportunity for you to increase your independence, grow in confidence, enjoy new experiences and meet other like-minded people. STA can also provide a stepping stone to Supported Independent Living. Many of Cara’s Supported Independent Living clients started their journey with Cara in Short-Term Accommodation.
Need somewhere to stay while you wait for your long-term home? Cara’s Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) provides eligible NDIS participants with a safe, comfortable and supportive place to live for up to 90 days while transitioning to their permanent housing arrangement.
Whether you’re waiting for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), home modifications to be completed, or another long-term housing solution, our MTA service offers a welcoming environment where you can continue receiving the support you need while maintaining your independence and everyday routine.
MTA is available in specific circumstances and is designed as a temporary bridge between housing arrangements

We design every activity around your interests, goals, and aspirations, so no two experiences are the same. You might choose to explore local attractions, enjoy outdoor adventures, or take part in creative sessions like art, music, or cooking. For those who love learning, we can focus on building practical skills, such as shopping, meal preparation, or using public transport, so you feel more confident and independent.
Social connection is a big part of respite, so there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people, share experiences, and have fun together. Whether you prefer quiet relaxation or active outings, we’ll make sure your time with us is enjoyable, meaningful, and tailored to you.
