In a pivotal partnership for the South Australian community, Adelaide United Football Club (AUFC) and Cara, a trusted organisation in the disability sector, have announced a three-year agreement designed to champion inclusion and highlight the positive impact of sport.
Under the agreement, Cara has been named the Exclusive Disability Charity Partner for both the Adelaide United Men’s (ALM) and Women’s (ALW) teams until 2028.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative for the club, the partnership goes beyond traditional sponsorship by launching a dedicated employment pathway for A-League Women (ALW) players. As part of the agreement, Cara will provide flexible employment options for ALW players —an initiative that supports athletes in balancing their professional sporting careers with meaningful work in the community.
This partnership brings together two proud South Australian organisations with shared values, shining a light on the good in the disability sector and celebrating inclusive, flexible employment pathways.
Adelaide United Head of Commercial, John Dagas, said the club was honoured to align with a provider that shares its community-first values.
“We’re proud to welcome Cara as our Official Disability Charity, aligning with a local organisation that shares our belief in inclusion, opportunity and making a real difference across our South Australian community is our greatest priority!” Dagas said.
Cara Deputy CEO, Michael Kromwyk, said the partnership was designed to support Cara’s brand promise to empower clients to live a life of joy, purpose, and belonging.
“Our clients often navigate complex disabilities, which can mean participation in mainstream events is limited. This partnership is about bringing the excitement of United to them in accessible, meaningful ways,” Kromwyk said.
“By welcoming Adelaide United players as Ambassadors and offering employment pathways, we are highlighting the rewarding nature of our industry. This shines a much-needed light on the good in our sector, celebrating the dedication of our staff and the incredible bond they share with the clients we support to live their best lives.”
