While much has changed since the organisation’s earliest beginnings, Cara’s commitment to people with disability has remained constant. From a small group of determined parents advocating for better opportunities for their children, the organisation has grown into one of South Australia’s leading disability service providers, supporting people across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.
Today, Cara delivers a diverse range of services including Supported Independent Living, Short Term Accommodation, Home & Community Support and Day Options. As a registered NDIS provider, Cara specialises in supporting people with severe, multiple and complex disabilities, working alongside individuals, families and support networks to create opportunities that reflect each person’s unique goals, interests and aspirations.
The values that shaped the organisation more than seven decades ago continue to guide its work today. While service models, community attitudes and the disability sector have evolved, the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to live the life they choose remains at the heart of everything Cara does.
Guided by the legacy of the families, advocates, volunteers, staff and community members who helped shape its history, Cara continues to create opportunities for people with disability to experience joy, purpose and belonging. As Cara looks to the future, it remains committed to helping people discover what is possible, because at Cara, disability is different.
